Delphinium

Origin

The name Delphinium comes from the Latin word for dolphin, because the blooms buds look something like a dolphin.

Characteristics

Delphiniums are well known for their impressive height. Their most notable feature is the flower stem, full of individual flowers. These flowers come in various colours, usually blue, purple or white, and add beauty to any flower arrangement or vase.

Care

Cut the stems at an angle with a sharp knife just before placing them in a clean vase with lukewarm water. Then add flower food. Then put the vase in a cool place, away from direct sunlight and draughts.

Blooming time

Delphiniums typically flower in the summer months, from May to August.
