Helianthus Plants

Origin

Helianthus, more commonly known as sunflowers, are a genus of flowering plants native to North and Central America, with just a few species found in South America.

Characteristics

Sunflowers are typically tall and upright, but more compact varieties are also popular. The centre, often mistaken for one large flower, is usually brown or yellow and surrounded by bright yellow petals.

Care

Sunflowers are relatively easy to care for, making them a popular choice for gardeners of all levels. They thrive in sunny locations with well-drained soil. Regular watering is essential, particularly during dry spells, but be sure to avoid waterlogging.

Blooming time

The blooming time of Helianthus depends on the specific species. However, most varieties flower during the summer months, typically between June and September.
