Characteristics
Tulips and their colours send different meaningful messages.
Red tulips symbolize love while yellow stands for happiness and appreciation. When somebody gives you white tulips, they want or give forgiveness. Pink tulips are for motherly love and different colours in an arrangement symbolize elegance.
Care
To keep your tulips looking their best, follow these tips:
- Light: Avoid drafts, heating, and direct sun. Place them in indirect sunlight.
- Ethylene: Keep tulips away from fruit, which releases ethylene and causes rapid ripening.
- Vase: Use a clean vase with a narrow opening and wide bottom to prevent spreading and support the stems. Ensure tulips have room to breathe.
- Preparation: Cut stems straight and remove excess leaves. No leaves should be in the water.
- Water: Fill the vase with 5-10 cm of cold water, topping up with room temperature water. Clean the vase regularly and add flower food occasionally.
- Hydration: Newly cut tulips need plenty of water. Keep stems submerged.
These steps will help your tulips thrive and brighten your space.
