Virtual Grower Visit: Bibo hydrangeas

This week we visited the hydrangea grower Bibo. They grow about 20 different varieties in different greenhouses and are famous for their amazing big flower heads. Bibo started 6 years ago and now they are one of the biggest hydrangea growers.

The hydrangea season is from the 1st of April till the 1st of December and during this time they produce about 3 million stems. From the middle of September, they will cultivate autumn colours. The varieties they grow are ruby red, pink touch, glowing alps, rodeo purple, verena in the colours, white, blue, pink and many more varieties. They have 11 hectares to grow these varieties. To grow the flower heads this big they adjust the light in the greenhouses and give the flowers special food.
