Origin
The name Delphinium comes from the Latin word for dolphin, because the blooms buds look something like a dolphin.
Characteristics
Delphiniums are well known for their impressive height. Their most notable feature is the flower stem, full of individual flowers. These flowers come in various colours, usually blue, purple or white, and add beauty to any flower arrangement or vase.
Care
Cut the stems at an angle with a sharp knife just before placing them in a clean vase with lukewarm water. Then add flower food. Then put the vase in a cool place, away from direct sunlight and draughts.

Delphiniums typically flower in the summer months, from May to August.
