Virtual Grower Visit: Montana Lisianthus

Two weeks ago we visited the Eustoma (lisianthus) grower Montana. The small eustoma plants come in when they have already grown for 12 weeks, then after 8 weeks in the greenhouse, they are fully grown to be cut. To guarantee the quality as long as possible, the Lisianthus are put in water with extra flower food, directly after harvesting. The flowers will be transported the very same day, as fresh as possible, in this flower food-water.

Montana Lisianthus loves to develop new Lisianthus varieties and thanks to the close cooperation with the breeder they already had some new varieties. At Montana they are always trying new things, now they are dyeing the flowers by putting them in pigmented organic colouring. They have 16 dyed flowers and 24 varieties in the greenhouse at the moment.
